Russian Embassy visits to Ash-Shaliheen Mosque

On March 28, 2013 members of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Brunei Darussalam visited the new Mosque Ash-Shaliheen located near the Prime Minister’s Office which is currently under construction. Acting Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd. Sallehgreeted members of the Russian Embassy and told them about the history of the mosque.

The edifice of Ash-Shaliheen was built up on the project of prominent Egyptian architect Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil. This is one of the most beautiful architectural buildings in sultanate designed in Moroccan style. The mosque is constructed with a state-of-the-art infrastructure such as the motorised retractable roof which allows the worshippers to avoid inconvenience in nasty weather. All elements of the interior decoration were imported from Morocco and Italy.

The official opening ceremony was held in June, 2012.
